History
Davidson-Richards Ltd was established in 1977 as a Management and Computer Consultancy at the earliest stages of the microcomputer revolution before the IBM PC. David Goodley was the founder of the company and he remains as the consultant Chairman today. In 1991 David employed his Son, Richard, as the most junior member of the team. Having performed a satisfactory 11 year apprenticeship David transferred the CEO role to Richard in 2002 as he stepped back into semi-retirement. Richard took the opportunity at this time to invite Neil Fears, Keith Bateman and Chris Worthington, who had all been outstanding members of the Davidson-Richards team during the previous 11 years to cement their relationship with the company by becoming Directors. All readily accepted and the current Davidson-Richards management team is centred around Richard, Neil, Keith and Chris.
The main area of business activity in late 1970's was the supply of Commodore Pets and related services to commercial and public organisations. Even then Davidson-Richards had expertise beyond the norm and created some innovative hardware devices such as the 'communications controller' that allowed the Commodore Pet to interface with IBM Mainframes. Over 1500 of these devices were sold to the US. The development of the company continued and in the early 1980's DRL became one of the first IBM PC Dealers in the UK. It was at this point that many applications were becoming commercially available and realistically priced. It was during this period that DRL first started supplying the Accounting Software HB Ledgers that was to become Pegasus. Throughout the remainder of the 1980's and the 1990's the company prospered and became more and more involved in the Finanical and Manufacturing sectors. The first product supplied by DRL was called Pegasus Junior which became Pegasus Senior and then was replced by Opera. At the end of the millenium Pegasus released their latest products, Opera II and Operations II. During this entire period Davidson-Richards has been one of the primary Pegasus Partners and this remains the case today. Our concentration on the core principles of value and competence have delivered steady organic growth and a stable and satisfied client base. We have always had very strong development capabilities and that remains the case today with approaching 75% of our customers having some form of development within their Pegasus solutions.
The company is currently growing organically at a 12 month rolling yearly rate above 40% and is in excellent financial health.
