Garden Centres Flourish with New Retail-Management Solution

Tracking and updating 45,000 SKUs of seasonally shifting, annually updated merchandise took long hours but seemed part of the job to Martin Stewart's willing GardenLands and Country Garden Centre staff. As Managing Director, Stewart had charged each department manager to run his/her own profit centre and make the most of buying, pricing, and business decisions. Store managers have similar responsibilities on a larger scale. Chronic operations problems such as a long product lag from receiving to shelves seemed totally unrelated to an information system. Digging deeper, Stewart discovered that frustrations that once seemed unyielding or logistical might be remedied by integrated, front-to-back data availability.
